Press Release
Conart is delighted to host this, our second, exhibition.
Conart was founded on the belief that a true connection with the artist and their story, enables the viewer to connect with the artwork in a way that honours the time and creative energy put into the artwork. This, coupled with understanding how art can positively impact well-being and the occupants' experience of any space, means that in-person exhibitions with the opportunity to spend time with the artists are fundamental to the Conart vision.
The works of Theo Bardsley and Ruth Batham celebrate the diversity of life and human interaction, both in their unique styles - Bardsley takes bold blocks of colours and urban scenes to communicate the necessity of socialisation while Batham employs dreamlike compositions of more intimate human relationships.
Minjoo Kim and Kayoon Anderson reinterpret their personal histories in poignant portraits which draw on cultural differences and the experience of renegotiating identity. Minjoo Kim creates virtual narratives, otherworldly scenes with recognisable elements next to the nostalgic vignettes of Anderson.
Bokani's vibrant works are created through gestural movements, exploring and responding to colours as they interact on the canvas. Her love of abstraction is evident in the joyful and exciting works which go beyond the canvas and occupy other spaces and mediums. This adoration for the essence of paint is also seen in the botanical paintings of Georgia Beaumont, who responds to the cyclical constancy of nature in creating rhythmic works.
Conart is excited and inspired by these artists and what they are creating and achieving, and to present a unique opportunity to view the artworks and enjoy conversation with the artists is a pleasure.
