Mary Schumacher was raised in Estherville, IA and left at the age of 17 to live in New York, Chicago, Omaha and Houston before returning to marry and raise her family in Estherville. She opened Studio M Photography in 2005. The Studio offers portrait and fine art photography, graphite illustrations and graphic design work by Mary. The goal for the Studio is to promote local artists and eventually provide classes for the surrounding area.
Mary has been a member of the Northwest Iowa Professional Photographers of America and on the Excell Estherville committee. This year will be the second year with the Artisan Road Trip of NW Iowa. This is also her second year as a judge for the Clay County Fair photography exhibit. Mary has been won awards & published as a poet while in college. She has won numerous awards for her photorealistic drawings and has work in several states including Vermont, Georgia, Nebraska and Texas.
Mary has five college degrees and 4 internships including a BA in Fine Arts, an AS in Graphic Design & Technology and an AA in Fine Arts. She also helped coordinate several college art shows, was VP of the colleges CADD and Graphic Design Clubs, on the Dean’s List at Iowa State University and Iowa Lakes Community College. She was the Soprano Section leader for Many Voices Choir for 2 years.
