I first began showing interest in art around the age of three or four, before I could even write.
I’ve always told everyone that I’ve wanted to be an artist since the day I knew what it meant. I can’t see myself doing anything else. I was not very fond of crafty projects in elementary, however. I couldn’t understand what was so fun about doing everything exactly like the teacher. I’m not very good with guidelines when it comes to my work. Art should never come with rules.
When I’m not busy with high school or work, I dedicate my time to art. I’ve has only taken one art class in high school, due to some scheduling conflicts. Otherwise, I’m self-taught and I usually have to create at home. During my Sophomore year, I was hired by Daniel Moore to paint photography backgrounds for her studio in South English (including the one in my profile picture). My first was on 16” x 20” canvas, and since then I’ve made five backgrounds overall there. I also give paintings away as gifts and make murals for different people in my community.
My portfolio is still very diverse because I’m young and want to see what style I’m most comfortable with. I tend to experiment with a bright Surrealist style. If you are interested in seeing more of my work, add me on myspace or facebook!
